FREE - However we are not mind readers, therefore the bars who send promotion material
in and tell us what events are happening tend to get promoted more. It is up to you - tell us
what you are doing and we will plug it for you. Sadly very few gay business owners bother to
send promotions in and then moan that they do not get promoted! As nobody wants to pay for
the service we do not have the time to do it for you. It is no good relying on just Facebook as
you are preaching to the converted. It is new customers that the Gay Guide brings to bars and
those who are not on Facebook, of which there are more than actually use it. Social media
only promotes to people you already have in your friends list. And has a low conversion rate
to actual sales. Content is king and visitors respond well to offers, promotions and new content.
We put an average of 400 hours a year into promoting Gay Benidorm and yes we make a
little money at it, BUT not from bars. A bit like charging for a beer in a bar then! BUT we put
far more in than we get out. We are passionate about Benidorm, but also need to pay the bills.
Recently some bars have been moaning (again) that online guides do not promote them,
are biased and why should they pay? Well there is no charge here! - As we say we are not
mind readers!! TELL US WHAT YOU ARE DOING and we will promote you for FREE. We
are no different to the gay guide magazine which nobody expects for free. We tried to charge a
small annual fee to cover our time but few were prepared to pay 1€ a week. This was a shame
for those happy to pay for our time (Thank you to those who did help out last year). Since the
beginning of 2010 it has been free to all Gay bars. When we find stuff to promote we add it to
the gay guide for free. If you send us flyers and offers we will add them linked to your site, it
results in more visits to your website. If you send us nothing you get nothing.

Benidorm is our only income and it works. Over the past 2 years alone the guide has
generated over 350,000€ of income for local small businesses directly. For bars this is not
something we can show proof for other than the numbers of visitors who are very targeted will
result in customers and therefore sales. With over 1.5 Million visitors since May 2005 with an
average 5% converting to a sale this is equal to 75,000 potential bums on your seats. Simples!
How promotion works - Example Petit Palau Apartments (now closed) Generated 123,000€ of
income in 2008 directly from the gay guide promoting them, a 28% increase in turnover. Cost to them
only 200€. Traffic from links in their website back to the gay guide over 5,000 cost to bar owners ZERO.
This is all we are able show as it would not be right to give figures of current advertisers but it gives you
an idea of what we actually do when businesses get on board and how promotion cross plugs everyone.
