The Poniente area of the resort begins at the harbour in the Old Town and stretches over 2kms toward La
Cala Finestrat. The concentration of hotels and apartments are far less here and the beach offers a less
crowded space even in high season. If you are looking for a beach holiday with early nights and early
mornings then this is the place to stay. For a more lively holiday you should consider the Levante
This is the area of Benidorm favoured by Spanish visitors and residents especially families. You will find
the highest concentration of privately owned apartments here and no all night discos or bars. After
midnight the Poniente tends to go to bed even in high season. For a hotel opposite the beach Check the
prices and availability at the Corona Del Mar where you will be on the beach and by the old town park. If
you prefer a self catering apartment the popular Benibeach complex is set back along the Poniente.
There are many café bars along the main road here but none on Benidorm beaches.
The sea front on the Poniente is currently undergoing a 13.2 million euro redevelopment programme which
will be completed in another year. Once complete there will be a brand new promenade and traffic will be
much less as the main road will become one way with access for residents only. Whilst the works are
being completed there will be some disruption along the beach as walkways are rebuilt - Expect some
bargains hotel bookings here. Almost all hotels that are font line are set well back from the redevelopment
programme which is halfway through and is expected to finish in 2009. See top selling hotels
You may also wish to consider this part of town if you are hiring a car as it is much easier to park in the
many free street parking spaces.
