more details before booking your holiday.

Dates in red are those which visitors will most enjoy
and are the main celebration days in Benidorm.

Andalucía Day 1st
Cridà Fallas - This is the official inauguration of the Fallas 7th
Fallas 2010 - 14th to the 19th ( 19th Fiesta of " San Jose " ) Learn all about the Valencian Fallas in English
The Valencian fiesta is celebrated in Benidorm with the erection of the Fallas enjoy Fireworks and concerts.
Fallas burnt on 19th and is not to be missed.  A good time to come to Benidorm for some culture.

Commemoration of the " Vírgen del Sufragio' 16th
COMMEMORATION OF THE ARRIVAL OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN
At the old town church there is an offering flowers. The discovery of the
Patron Saint, the ‘Vírgen del Sufragio' is reenacted as the Virgin is carried
from the beach by the harbour up to the Church.  A hugely moving occasion
with bands and the ringing of the Church bells to announce the arrival of the
blessed Virgin.

APRIL
Semana Santa 2010  (Easter Week) 2nd to 9th
2nd is Good Friday (Viernes Santo) 5th is Easter Monday (Lunes de Pascua)
Witness the processions which act out the crucifixion of Jesus with solemn
processions at each important stage of the Easter story.  Processions start
and end at the town Church in the old town.  Check at the
tourist office for full details and times.

JUNE
Romería del Corpus Casa de Andalucía 10th to 14th
Fogueres de Sant Joan 2009 19th to 24th Bonfires of Saint John 24th
Bonfires at La Cala (Gran Bali), Mercado and Park Elx, are exhibited.  Culminates on the 24th when they are all burnt. Four days of
contests and fireworks.  Be at La Cala beach on the night of the 23rd - not to missed.  Theatre on the beach and thousands of people
on the beach with 100´s of bonfires and at midnight everyone heads into the sea.

JULY

Fiestas Barrio San Cristóbal 10th to 12th     
Fiestas de la Virgen del Carmen 16th to 19th (Fishermen Fiesta)
The Patron Saint of sailors is honoured in Benidorm. The recital of verses
by a young girl from the town to the Virgin is one of the most solemn acts of
the festivities. Takes place at the harbour and old town church

A celebration of the invasion and defeat of the Moors by the Christians.
Street parades, fireworks and battles acted out on the Levant beach.

Valencian Community Day 9th Regional Holiday
Día de la Hispanidad - Spain Day 12th National Holiday

NOVEMBER
All saints Day 1st ( The day of the dead, when flowers are placed on the graves of those who have passed. A day of
remembrance across Spain)

FESTES MAJORS PATRONALS (The Benidorm Fiesta) 13th to 17th 2010
NOTE: Each year the date is set according to the weekend of the second Sunday in November and runs from Saturday until the
Wednesday fireworks spectacular.
The festivities in honour of the Patron Saint, the Virgin of the Sufragio and San Jaime Apostle are the most important to the people of
Benidorm. Five days with acts such as the staging of the finding of the Virgin, offerings of flowers, celebration of the tapestry, a final
parade (old town 6pm) of over 50  floats and a huge fireworks display on the beach.

Musical performances, bell ringing, concerts, street bands and a massive banger display at 2pm on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday
at Plaza Triangular.

WARNING: Parties continue throughout the night and cannons are set of each morning at 8am so expect little sleep. Do Not Miss The
Banger displays at 2pm and last night fireworks.  
If you wish enjoy Fiesta but stay well away from the noise we recommend the
Corona Del Mar Hotel (Poniente) or the De Loix Aqua Center Hotel (Rincon de Loix / Levante).  However if you want to right in the
center or the old town book the

DECEMBER
(Christmas & New Year festivities start on the 18th until the 5th Jan)
Nativity scene, contests, markets and Christmas concerts.  The end of the
year is celebrated at Plaza Triangular on the 31st where you can enjoy the
tradition of eating 12 grapes at midnight - Free Champagne for all.  And n
the night of January 5th the 3 Kings procession takes place with a parade
for the children of the town to welcome the Kings who bring presents for all.
NOTE: After enjoying midnight on the 31st head to the old town where you can enjoy a
second new year as the gay bars have their own street party and celebrate the English
new year at 1am - Now an annual street event enjoyed by 1000,s.
